~Silent Night~

Peace: To be silent. Harmony. Law and Order. Free from disturbance.

Silent Night, Holy Night, all is calm, all is bright.....
This is Christmas. Jesus' birthday....Jesus brings peace and quiet to our hearts, just like a heavy snowfall.

Snow is quiet, white and pure.
Snow is peaceful and calming.

I love winter. Especially at Christmas. And, this year we had it for Christmas week!
I hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

I enjoyed creating new Christmas items for my shop this year.
It has been a sweet time with family as we celebrated our first Christmas in our new home.

I love the quiet, I love the snow, I love the lights all a glow.

See you all next year!

My absolute FAVORITE time of the year is here!

Years ago it was because school was starting, new clothes for the first day, cheering for chilly football games and reuniting with my friends. But it is much more now. It is about creating fond  memories for my family and, selfishly, for myself.

It is about Cinderella Pumpkins, crisp cool mornings, smell of woodburning fireplaces, apple picking, early evening candles and lanterns burning, Apple Crisp, Grape pie, Fall Festivals, cozy reading time, cider, dougnuts and candy corn- OH MY! ...Crunchy leaves, foggy mornings, cornstalks and mums....the list is endless for me. I just love where God has placed me. I love my new home, I love my family, babies and friends, I love my desire to create. I love planning fun times and making fond memories. I LOVE NY!

Embrace this time of year sweet friends of mine, hug that hot cup of cider and anticipate a cozy winter and Holiday Season wherever God has planted you...there is nothing like it!

MEMORIES Make New Friends, But Keep The Old

Memories are, simply put, and reviving an experience, people, events, and so on, from your past.
A scent can trigger a memory, a song, a time of year, a meal, etc.
Photos are a great way to keep your fondest memories alive.
I can print any photo you send me via the internet, onto fabric and create something lasting and beautiful for you. A fabric banner, journal, frameable art, are a couple ideas. I would also love to add your sweet baby clothes or jewelry to your piece of art.
A printed image can also make a sweet pillow, handbag or decorative pocket- let your imagination go!
Remember forever your life experiences which have special meaning. Let Tamilyn create an heirloom for you! Keep old and new friends and family with you for years to come.
I may have something that suites you already in one of my shops, so visit often!
Have a beautiful day!

Creating...It's Good for the Soul

I am compelled to create...whether in dirt, at my sewing machine, behind my camera lense.
I cannot seem to help myself. My hands seem to have a mind of their own.

Creating brings me joy, peace and hope. And, hope, for sure, is an anchor for the soul!

I seem to forget the disappointments of life, the hurts from others, the fall of family members, my physical aches or pains, the sad faces of children, widows, or friends who have had tremendous loss.

For that moment I can just let my mind wander and temporarily live in a fantasy world.

There is only one place perfect without hurt, mean words, or sickness, and that is Heaven. One day all our troubles will not matter, if we belong to God.

When I dig deep into the warm earth and insert a new plant, I wait in anticipation for days to see it in full bloom reaching for the sky.

When I enter Little Italy (My studio) flick on my chandelier, turn on my music (David Phelps, Celine Dion, Wynonna Judd...usually) and close the door, sit down behind my Husqvarna in the rays from the window, all is well with the world!

I have many faults, I make many mistakes, but I do know creative juices get me through and help ease the pains of this life and give me hope and anticipation.

Forgive me Lord for my many failures, my unkind words, my impure thoughts....with your help I will do better tomorrow. Help my hands to create for you.

Proverbs 3: 5, 6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not unto your own understanding.

In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths.

SOME NEW ADDITIONS: Peek-A-Boo Leg Warmers

Easter Renewal

So often when designing a new item, I will run into obstacles.
And, often, the item turns out better than it would have if I continued with what I originally envisioned.
I've learned to laugh at my mistakes and setbacks now, God creates through me, of this, I am positive! So, who am I to argue with him? He often teaches me lessons along the way, patience for one...(can we get an Amen!? )
If any of you know me well, you know I am a very impatient creature...but I can't help it, I cannot wait to see the final product!
This reminded me of something; often things need to die or wither before they become better.
Many times I need to yield myself and take a different route.
This, of course, reminded me of food ( big surprise!) like my spinach for Easter tomorrow...the fresh leaves will become steamed and wilted, flavored and tweeked into something totally different- yummy creamed spinach to add to our Ham dinner!
Speaking of is a perfect analogy! Birth of baby chicks, baby bunnies, new flowers come to life, buds on trees pop out and grass becomes green again!
God sent his perfect son to die and become worn, beaten, and in pain for us. But, he came to life 3 days later! Such a glorious morning that must have been on that very first Easter!
So, next time you make creamed spinach, a sand castle, or mistake while you create, remember the sacrifice Jesus made so we could be in Heaven with him one day.
Happy creating!
Happy lessons learned!
And, Happy Easter!

~ Tea in the Nook ~

My mom and one sister finally arrived!
They did great finding our new home...after a quick tour, we sat down to a quiet "Ladie's Luncheon." I made a Whole Wheat Pesto Pizza and Spinach Salad. ( Step by step instructions/photos below). Turned out fabulous including filtered ice water w/ floating Raspberries in my new hand blown water goblets!
After lunch we carried our hot beverages of choice into the "Ladie's Nook" for some divine pastries....only ladies would appreciate this! Sorry, no men allowed this afternoon!
After a bit of relaxing by the fire, some of our babies came with their babies....not so quiet anymore...but a great ending to a really fun day...wet kisses included!
Whole Wheat Pesto Pizza...a Tamilyn Original Recipe

Getting Settled~~~~

Things are coming together nicely folks.
We're getting used to the "noises" in our new home- furnace, ice maker, nearby trains.
It really feels like home now...Adding our own touches really makes a difference.
Here is a photo or two of the outside and some of the inside front "Ladie's Nook"
More photos to follow.
Little Italy is coming together too! Yipee! Cannot wait to move everything else in there after the hard woods are done. I love to create and design in a beautiful place.
Have a Happy Valentine's Day soon! I made this fleece wreath in winter white for my front door in Honor of Valentine's Day...
You'll need white topped straight pins, styrofoam heart wreath form and lots of fleece circles about 3" across.
Fold each circle twice so it looks like a fortune cookie and pin the "point" into your wreath. If it is a shallow wreath, as mine was, you'll need to push them in at an angle. Fill the front and inside curve, but not the back. There, done!

French Horns in Central Park

French horns in the park on a warm Spring day after a long long winter...that is how I feel right thankful, so at peace, so overwhelmed with God's gifts!
We're in our new home, it is just perfect for us....God has a way of giving us exactly what we need and nothing more.
Now, when I drive by a home "for sale" I can feel myself start to tense, my blood pressure start to rise, and then it hits me. No need to worry, no need to fret, I have taken care of you my daughter.
Yes, Lord, you me never forget all you've carried us through.
Help me never to forget what a blessing my bright walk- in closet is!
Help me never to forget what a blessing my one- story living is!
Help me never to forget what a blessing my main floor laundry room is!
Help me never ever forget that you gave it all to me and I should never want for more!
We are in, not quite unpacked, but.....WE ARE IN!
Let the decorating and creating begin...
I love my new "Little Italy" studio room and cannot wait to get it settled.
Can you feel the breeze? Can you hear the French horns?
Tami Lyn me never to forget!
